KK9R and Band For Animal Save Dogs from Hoarder

On Oct 9th, Korean K9 Rescue and Band for Animal (our partners in Korea) will aid and assist in the rescue of over 40 dogs living in squalor and filth in an abandoned house in Geunheung-myeon, Taean-gun, Seosan, Korea. These are some of the worst conditions we have ever seen. All of them have all have demodex mange, ring worm, worms, etc.. it is pitiful. We currently have 6 dogs in foster care and plan to take 4 more. Korea is a tough place for dogs because of the lack of resources and help for abandoned animals. Their health and the prospect of a future forever home is always our first priority. Together with our partners in Korea, we can bring them here to NYC for adoption when they are healthy and help them start a new life! If you would like to donate towards food and medical care you can venmo @koreank9rescue or paypal koreank9rescue@gmail.com. Thank you for sharing and helping!

These are the 6 dogs we have rescued – We hope to find them homes ASAP.

KK9R featured on Brooklyn Paper Website

Thank you to our friends at Sean Casey Animal Rescue for taking these beautiful Dogo Argentino puppies from our Korean rescue team! We are so grateful and blessed to have such great friends in the NYC rescue community ~ we made the cover of the Brooklyn Paper today!

Thousands of South Korean slaughterhouses butcher the animals annually. In 2016, 240,000 pooches were killed according to a report in the Guardian, but some estimates put the number of deaths closer to 2 million each year.

“It’s important to rescue these dogs because of the torture that’s involved in the process of slaughtering them,” said Gina Lori, owner of Korean K9 Rescue. “The people who consume dog meat and the butchers who kill the dogs believe that the more the dog suffers, and the more the dog is tortured, the higher the adrenaline level in the meat that’s produced.”

Anyone interested in adopting a rescued South Korean dog can visit Sean Casey Animal Rescue (153 E. Third St. near Fort Hamilton Parkway in Kensington, www.nyanimalrescue.org) and KK9R for more information.

KK9R featured on Korean media site YTN

Our very own Ezebel was featured on the Korean news site YTN! We are beyond excited that news of our organization is spreading in Korea and the U.S. We are so proud of our girl Ezzie!

Translation of article below:

“Abused by Korean dog meat farm

The Story of an Abused Dog…

This is the tragic story of a dog rescued from a poorly treated meat farm in South Korea. An American animal protection group (Korean K9 Rescue) rescued dogs from the Korean meat farm. They introduced their rescue named Ezebel. Ezebel was born in a wire cage ready to be made into dog blood sausages. Ezebel, who spent her entire life in a narrow band of barbed wire, was rescued by animal security and was transported to the U.S. shelter. However, Ezebel feared people because she was severely abused by her former owner. She avoids contact the moment someone touches her. So Korean K9 Rescue is rehabilitating Ezebel very carefully and slowly.

Ezebel has a very gentle and kind personality. But even when she was scared the image of the asylum workers made her sad. After two weeks of rehabilitation, Ezebel, who is currently residing in a foster home in Washington State, is living with her foster family. At first, she was so still and rigid but she is now learning how to play with other dogs. Korean K9 said, “I am looking for a family to care for the wounded Ezebel for life.” Meanwhile, the Korean K9 rescue team — who are steadily carrying out rescue and adoption activities, expect many dogs to be rescued from the dog meat farms besides Ezebel and hope to have them meet new owners.”
