With the support of our dedicated team and partner organizations, Korean K9 Rescue has helped save over 3,500 dogs from dire situations. In South Korea, where the adoption rate is less than 20%, many dogs face uncertain futures. That’s why we transport them to the U.S., where they have the chance to find loving, forever homes.
We are also proud to be a New Hope Partner with NYC Animal Care Centers (NYCACC), working to alleviate shelter congestion and expand our community’s impact. By collaborating with local shelters, we help ensure more dogs receive the second chance they deserve.
Most of our adoptable dogs are located on the East Coast, with some available on the West Coast. While we primarily adopt within NYC, we do consider adoptions outside the area on a case-by-case basis.
As a foster-based rescue, our dogs stay in loving homes before adoption, giving them the care, stability, and socialization they need to thrive.
🐾 Thinking about adopting? We highly recommend reviewing our Adoption Procedures and FAQs before applying to ensure a smooth and successful adoption process. Meet our dogs at our upcoming events.

Jjong
Details:
About:
This 1 year old, 42-lb Jindo mix was rescued from Siheung City Center and is a sweet, gentle soul learning to navigate the world.
Outside Jjong walks nicely but is still a little scared of new surroundings. She watches the train go by, seeming a bit unsure, but her curiosity shines through. With patience and love, she’s sure to build confidence with each day in the city.
Plus, her adorable scruffy face and long fur give her the cutest little beard!
Could you be the one to show Jjong the world at her own pace? Watch me here!
Sunny
Details:
About:
This toasted marshmallow girlie is five years old and fully grown at around 40lbs. The perfect sized pup to take up the other side of your queen bed!
Though she can be a little shy and aloof at first, she’s warming up quickly in her foster home. Slowly but surely showing interest in good sniffs and passing dogs on walks, she’ll thrive with a little patience. ♥️
Toys are a mystery to be solved, and humans are quite interesting. Sunny happily follows her fosters around as they tend to chores, quietly and curiously observing as if she’ll update her diary later that night.
Could you be the most interesting human in Sunny’s life? Better get your application in before her next event!

Happy
Details:
About:
This girl was rescued from a local high-kill shelter in South Korea that is near and dear to much of our team in Bundang. Gangneung shelter - the same one from Operation Noel - is constantly overcrowded and underfunded so we pull as many as we can, as often as we can.
Though she’s still adjusting to the noises of the big city, Happy has warmed right up in her foster home. Touch is definitely her love language; she seemingly makes sure that she’s touching her guardian if only a paw or her tail. She adores affection but even more so her meals and snacks!
Happy is part of our wonderful Jindo Journey Stipend as well - her adoptive guardians will receive $300 towards their training package! A sure way to set everyone up for success, and we’re certain Happy will enjoy the treats that come along with training. WATCH ME HERE!
Lenny
Details:
About:
He was rescued from a local city shelter in Gangneung, S.K. - Lately, a lot of our pups have been from this shelter as it’s very close to our team in Koreas’ hearts. With no government funding, city shelters in Korea are often extremely overcrowded and underfunded, leaving them no choice but to euthanize. We make every effort to pull from shelters as often as we can.
Lenny has totally forgotten his days at the shelter though; he’s quickly come out of his shell and learned the art of play in his foster home. From playful bouts to hard naps to cuddles, this little guy is your perfect puppy. He’s still got a lot to learn of course, but he’s picking up skills quickly. With a little training guidance, he’s sure to be a remarkable pup citizen. 🏅
Come check out Lenny’s no-show socks in person and meet all of our dogs! WATCH ME HERE!
Uzzy
Details:
About:
We pulled Uzzy from Manhattan NYC ACC after being notified that he was at risk. He's incredibly fit with short legs and a long body - his tail seems to have been docked crudely at somepoint, but he doesn't let that bother him one bit. It still has plenty of wags in it! His origin story isn't quite clear - he was a stray brought in by a good citizen - but one thing we do know is his future is bright!
Uzzy has quickly adjusted to the finer things - he loves checking out the dog beds in his foster home, will tap your arm for more affection, and enjoys a good sunbath by the window while he people watches. He's gotten quick with treat puzzle toys so he's definitely a problem solver! Though he enjoys long walks through the neighborhood, he equally enjoys lounging around the house.
Being a boroughbred, he's already used to the hustle and bustle of NYC, but still needs some time to decompress in a new home setting. Once he's comfortable and confident though, the sky is the limit for this little one!
As part of our initiative to help out local shelter dogs, Uzzy's adoption fee is $300 AND he's eligible for our Jindo Journey Training Stipend. Uzzy's adopters will benefit from a FULLY covered training package to help set them up for long term success and happiness.

Miso is a handsome and intelligent 25-lb male. 6 yr old Jindo is mixed with a charming personality. Outdoors, he is active and full of energy; indoors, he enjoys lounging like a cat. Miso would be the perfect companion for a low-traffic household or a single owner without children or other pets. Although Miso is an easy-going dog, he has been part of our training program to address reactivity around other dogs. He has made remarkable progress, advancing to group pack walks and play sessions with our trainer. Miso is now ready to find his forever home! | Apply to Adopt Me He will thrive in a stable, quiet environment, ideally with an adult-only household of one or two people. Miso would love a home that offers him outdoor adventures like park visits and hikes, which bring him the most joy. Once he bonds with his person, he is incredibly affectionate and loyal. The ideal home for Miso would be with someone committed to continuing his progress through follow-up training provided by our rescue. This will ensure his ongoing growth and success as an excellent companion. Miso is part of our foster-to-adopt VIP program! Learn more about the program https://www.koreank9rescue.org/foster-faq/#foster-to-adopt and meet Miso at one of our upcoming adoption events. WATCH ME HERE! About:
If you’ve ever wondered what a quintessential dog looks like, Hailey is your girl. She adores fetch and tug - she could chase her favorite ball forever so long as you’re into it too. After adventures, she’s ready to curl up for a nap with you or watch TV - whatever floats your boat!
She’s whatever around pretty much any pup or human - only really paying attention to her human. Hailey is the type of girl you could drink coffee at an outdoor cafe on a busy Saturday morning while you read a book.
You can have all that and a bag of chips with Hailey - she’s also a part of our FTA VIP program! This is a foster to adopt program aimed at placing our pups that might need a little more time to acclimate. Promising adopters can benefit from up to 30 days “trial” run where we supply all the basics including food and training support.
Even more bonus, her training package is completely sponsored by our wonderful donors! Hailey and her forever family will get incredible training support from one of our trainers, helping them on their road to a picture perfect future.
Hailey would be so thrilled to meet you! - Hailey will not be at our weekend events.
