7 Dogs Rescued From Hidden Dog Meat Farm Outside Seongnam-si

Rescued in the darkness, now finally safe

On the night of May 12th, our team responded to an urgent call in the foothills of Seongnam-si, just outside the city. Hidden away in the darkness was a private dog meat farm, operating quietly as South Korea moves toward its 2027 dog meat ban.

Inside were 7 dogs living in heartbreaking conditions.

They were hiding deep in the corners of cold concrete pens, trembling as our team approached. Bowls filled with rotten food waste sat untouched. Puppies curled up tightly together for warmth. One Jindo mix stood chained, desperately trying to move closer to the people finally there to help.

That night, all 7 dogs were rescued.

They are now safe at our quarantine facility in Korea, where they’re receiving medical care, nutritious food, and a chance to finally rest without fear.

While South Korea has officially passed legislation to ban the dog meat industry, the reality on the ground is far more complicated. Enforcement will not fully take effect until the end of 2027, and in the meantime, many farms are relocating, hiding in more remote areas, and becoming increasingly difficult to uncover. Rescues like this are still happening every day, often behind closed gates and far from public view.

These 7 dogs are safe because someone spoke up, rescuers showed up, and supporters like you continue to stand with us.

Their journey is only beginning. They will need ongoing medical care, rehabilitation, transportation, and eventually loving homes where they can finally experience the life every dog deserves.

Thank you for helping us continue this work.
