We Embrace a Holistic Approach
Through Feeding A Fresh Food Diet
We frequently receive inquiries about our canine nutrition philosophy. We feed our dogs a diet that is nutritionally balanced and minimally processed, comprised of fresh foods locally sourced. Free from chemicals, fillers, meat by-products, dyes, and preservatives. Feeding our dogs a nutritionally balanced, minimally processed, fresh food diet makes them happier and contributes to a longer, healthier life. This approach often results in fewer visits to the vet and healthy skin and coat. By investing in quality food, we’re essentially investing in our dogs’ well-being, giving them the vitality and energy they need to live their best lives.

Essential Supplies list for adopted dogs
Note: Upon adoption approval, please use the “custom supplies list” sent to your email, tailored to your new dog.
Items marked with (*) are available at cost from our rescue office or on-site at events
Crate
*One 24”, 30″, 36″, or 42″ metal folding crate with two doors (size based on your dog)
A two-door crate makes it easier for a newly adopted, timid or nervous dog to enter and exit during their adjustment period. Single-door crates will not be approved for use.
Safety GPS
*One Fi Dog Series GPS Collar – mini, 3, or 3+ models (mandatory, available at a discounted rate)
Collar & Harness
*One Martingale collar (your dog will already be wearing this)
The Martingale collar and harness purchased are the same ones each dog is sized for in Foster care – to ensure a proper fit for safety.
Pre-purchased collars or harnesses will not be accepted to ensure the dog’s safety
Leashes
*One Safety Leash with secure and broad clips (RifRuf Commuter Leash)
*One lightweight leash for home use
If you provide your own outdoor leash, it will be up to the discretion of KK9R staff if it is safe for use
Chews & Treats
*Two 5-6” Bully sticks
Training treats (single-protein, freeze-dried, or dehydrated preferred)
Bedding & Toys
One elevated bed or cot for relaxation and training (4legs4pets.com)
Size based on size of crate required. Available for a discount by using code KK9R25
One small or medium-sized Kong Classic toy
Other Supplies
You may also need poop bags, additional toys, bedding, food/water bowls, grooming supplies, bathing supplies, etc.
Pee pads are not recommended. We encourage all our dogs to potty outdoors!
Safety backup/GPS
When adopting a dog from us, we mandate using a martingale collar backed up by a harness unless advised otherwise by your trainer. This is crucial for at least the first few years and whenever the dog leaves the house. Our dogs, arriving from Korea, are particularly prone to fleeing due to initial fear and stress. Especially in the busy streets of New York City, we want to ensure their safety. A leash attached solely to a harness is prone to failure, as dogs can easily slip out of harnesses or equipment can break. That’s why we recommend a double-clip setup with a backup clip. We will give you a free safety backup clip when you adopt your dog!
GPS Collar Requirement for All Adopters:
Our dogs are new to their environment and will take time to adjust, which is considered a “high-flight” risk. We require a Fi GPS collar (mini, 3 or 3+) for each adopted dog to mitigate the risk of them running away. An Apple air tag is not reliable. You can purchase this collar directly from us – the device is provided free of charge; adopters will pay a discounted rate for a 12 month subscription ($159). This helps ensure you take all necessary precautions to keep your new pet safe for their safety and your peace of mind.
